About us
The FANUS e.V. was founded on 03.08.2015 in Hamburg. The driving force are the couple Daniel and Sarah Tsehaye. Both migrated to Germany from East Africa. Daniel is (self-employed) businessman. He came to Germany in the 1970s without parents as an underage refugee . He has lived and worked in Hamburg ever since.
Sarah travelled to Germany in 1993, Hamburg is her chosen home city. She is a travel agent by profession. Both have been involved in school projects for orphaned children in Africa with great personal commitment for many years. In the years leading up to the founding of the organization the couple has and continues to support an orphans nursery school in Malindi – Kenya featured under `projects` with school fees and donations at their own expense.
They hope that the local community will one day get greater help to complete the construction of the semi-finished school rooms and be able to have basic school furniture for the children who do not have enough tables and chairs. Because of the current urgent refugee situation in Germany, the couple – together with an old friend (M/s Dose), who is an administrative assistant at a doctors chambers – decided to form an association. This would cater to and support both young migrants and adults from Africa in their everyday problems.
The causes for escape and expulsion are a global challenge. More than ever before man is being forced to escape violence, persecution or famine. Many have lost everything and have fled life-threatening circumstances.
In Germany, the refugees are facing great integration challenges. Many of them will not be able to return to their countries for a long time.
